Rapture FAQs

🌬️ When’s the best time to join a Rapture trip?

Each trip is timed to line up with the most reliable seasonal winds — not just a guess, but based on years of local knowledge.

  • West Coast (WA): November to March

  • North QLD (Bowen, Whitsundays): April to November
We aim to hit the sweet spots when the wind shows up and stays a while.

🏄 Can I get lessons, hire gear, or organise boat support outside a trip?

Lessons run out of our base in Bowen, and if you're booked on a trip, we offer pre-tour refreshers to make sure you’re riding in with confidence.
Outside the tour schedule, our instructors' time is limited — but reach out. If we can help, we will.

🎒 Do I bring my own gear, or is it provided?

Bring the gear you ride best — the stuff you trust. We’re all about progression, but that doesn’t mean switching to unfamiliar kit.
If you're unsure or keen to upgrade, we’ll help you choose or deliver fresh gear to your door or the tour’s start point.

Want to hire gear? Let us know early. If you love what you’ve ridden, you can buy it after the tour, minus hire cost.

📋 Gear Hire Terms

  • Hire length = your tour length (plus any extra days requested)

  • We’ll keep your card on file until gear is returned and checked

  • Normal wear is fine — damage or loss is assessed case by case

  • Return within 7 days of finishing the tour (or we’ll assume it’s yours now)

  • Gear delivery is within Australia only — international guests, your gear awaits you on arrival

💸 What do the tours cost?

Each Rapture trip is priced based on location, logistics, and duration.
Details are on each trip page.
Note: Flights aren’t included (except for our Abrolhos trip, where flights from Geraldton are covered).

🕓 Can I arrive early or stay longer?

Definitely. Let us know, and we’ll help you sort out extra accommodation, vehicle hire, and any gear you need.
Just note — outside the trip window, our team won’t be available unless pre-arranged.

🐠 What if I want to snorkel, dive, fish, or surf?

All our tours include backup plans if the wind takes a day off.
Every location is packed with options — just check the tour page. Or hang around longer and explore deeper.

🧳 What should I pack?

Bring the essentials:

  • The gear you ride in most conditions (don’t bring your whole shed)

  • Rashies, long sleeves, leggings for reef-safe sun protection

  • Reef-safe sunscreen (see: Auski’s guide)

  • Swimmers, hat, water bottle, toiletries

If your tour involves small aircraft, we’ll tell you weight limits in advance.
You’ll also get a pre-trip email with weather and packing tips.

🤕 Injured before the trip — can I get a refund?

We strongly recommend travel insurance from the day you book or book flights.
Cancellation terms are in your confirmation email.
If you can’t make it, we’ll do our best to offer credit for a future trip — we want you there when you’re ready.

📆 What's your cancellation policy?

You’ll find our full terms and conditions linked in your booking confirmation.

👨‍👩‍👧 Can I bring a non-kiting partner or family member?

Absolutely. Most of our locations offer more than just kiting.
If your tour page doesn’t answer it all, reach out and we’ll run through it with you.

🧍‍♂️ Coming solo — is that common?

Very. Lots of Rapture guests are solo riders.
We offer shared options or single supplements, and the vibe’s always open and welcoming.
It’s about skill level, not age — and you’ll meet people on a similar wave.

💤 What if there’s no wind?

We plan every trip around windy seasons, so calm days are rare — but not impossible.
That said, we pack the itinerary with surfing, freediving, spearfishing, jet skis, foiling, and even treasure hunts.

🥗 Can you cater to my diet?

Yes. We ask for dietary needs at checkout so we can plan ahead.
For rare ingredients or specific brands, we recommend bringing them along, especially for remote trips.
