South Australia – Parham
Welcome to Parham — where the coastline carves a myth into the land and the sandflats stretch out like Excalibur itself, slicing eastward into Gulf St Vincent. Just an hour north of Adelaide, this sleepy seaside hamlet hides one of the flattest, smoothest kite spots in the state.
SW to SE winds blow clean across kilometres of shallow tidal flats, turning the area into a freestyle and foil paradise. On mid to high tide, you’re straight into waist-deep glass. On low, it’s a stroll — but the reward is ankle-deep perfection stretching out like a blade drawn from stone.
The foreshore’s mellow, the locals are laid-back (as long as you don’t block the boat ramp), and the only sound you’ll hear is the hum of your lines and the seabirds circling overhead.
