Milligan Island – WA

Just north of Green Head, Milligan Island is what Sandy Cape used to feel like — open, raw, and uncrowded. The seabreeze funnels in clean off the Indian Ocean, and you’ll often have the whole stretch to yourself.

Best on SW to SSW winds, especially in summer. The wind builds late morning and fills in strongest mid to late arvo. Cross-shore, reliable, and steady enough to set your line and ride for hours.

Launch is simple — wide, soft sand and no obstacles. Low tide exposes a few reef patches, but mid to high tide gives you a clear shot. The water’s open bump with the occasional kicker. Good for freeride, foiling, and longer cruises.

Beginner-friendly on lighter days, but ideal for intermediate kiters looking for space and cleaner wind away from the usual hotspots. There’s a basic eco-camp nearby — no water or power, but enough to stay a few nights and get your fill.

No crowds, no stress, just clean wind and coastline.
