South Australia – Lucky Bay (Eyre Peninsula)

Welcome to Lucky Bay — where the name delivers, and the wind rarely disappoints. Tucked away on the eastern edge of the Eyre Peninsula, this stretch of shimmering shallows and endless sky is a flatwater rider’s dream.

SSE to SW winds funnel in clean across the bay, grooming the surface into glassy patches and playful chop. Perfect for laid-back cruising, freestyle flicks, or just throwing big spray under an open sky. The beach is wide, the water shallow for ages, and you’ll often have it all to yourself except for the odd dolphin or ferry chugging into port.

Camp right on the edge of it all and wake up with your kite in arm’s reach. The only thing between you and the water is a few steps of soft sand. Just keep an eye on the tide — those wide flats can turn into a long walk if you’re not paying attention.
