Mauritius Beach – WA

Just north of Vlamingh Head, Mauritius Beach is one of Exmouth’s lesser-used kite spots — open, quiet, and with enough space to make it work if you know what you're doing.

Best on SW to SSW seabreezes. The wind comes in clean across the bay and lines up cross-shore. Like most of Exmouth, it kicks in mid to late arvo and stays solid through summer.

The beach is narrow, with patches of reef and some rocky outcrops depending on tide. Mid to high tide is safest for launch — low tide starts exposing some nasties. Rigging space is limited, so it’s not ideal for beginners or anyone who needs room to reset.

Water is mostly bump and roll with shallow patches near shore. Not a freestyle park, but rideable and smooth enough for foiling or a freeride burn.

No facilities, no rescue, and it’s a bit of a walk in. Also worth noting — this is Exmouth’s clothing-optional beach, so expect a few naked sunbakers doing their thing. Respect goes both ways.

Mauritius isn’t a go-to spot, but if the main beaches are crowded or you just want your own slice of wind, it’s a solid Plan B.
