Western Australia – Fourth Beach (Esperance)

Welcome to Fourth Beach — Esperance’s windswept beauty where the sand’s blinding white, the water’s ice-blue, and the wind has a mind of its own. You’re on the edge of the Southern Ocean out here, and it shows.

Just a short roll out of town along Twilight Beach Road, Fourth Beach picks up those summer ESE seabreezes that blow in cross-on from the left. They’re not always textbook, but when they show up clean, this place turns it on — think open playground with plenty of space to send it or cruise.

Flat sections tuck in behind the sandbars, and there’s usually a bit of playful bump and wave action further out. It’s best mid to high tide — low tide’s reefy in patches and can surprise you if you're not watching your line.

No facilities, no tourists snapping pics — just raw coastline and maybe a dolphin or two for company. You won’t find a crowd here, just wind-hungry locals or the odd traveller who knows what they’re doing.

Fourth’s got history too — a quiet favourite among the wind junkies who’ve been riding these shores long before Instagram made them look cool. It’s beautiful, yes, but it’s also exposed, wild, and demands a bit of respect.

Rock up with your gear dialled, a bit of grit in your style, and an eye on the forecast. Fourth Beach won’t coddle you — but it’ll give you a session you won’t forget.
