South Australia – Pondalowie Bay
Welcome to Pondie — the end-of-the-road, salt-scrubbed, surf-washed treasure buried deep in Innes National Park. Think remote cliffs, clean lines, and that untouched South Oz magic. This one's for the wave chasers, foil adventurers, and kitesurfers who don’t mind a bit of sand in their teeth and solitude in their soul.
The bay opens west-southwest, making it an absolute weapon on SE to SW winds. The swell rolls in with purpose, peeling along the reef and point, offering long rides for wave boards and wings alike. There’s a mix of rock and sand, so time your entry — mid tide rising is the golden ticket.
Not for beginners. The currents are real, the wildlife’s abundant (hello, sea lions), and your mobile reception’s a dream. But bring a mate, a spare fin, and a cooler full of post-session beers, and you’ve got yourself a mission worth remembering.
Out here, it's wild, windy, and wonderful — just how we like it.
