South Australia – Arno Bay
Welcome to Arno Bay — where a sleepy fishing town quietly hides a kiting haven right out front. The main beach near town delivers clean, consistent wind on a southeasterly, with open sandy stretches and a cruisy vibe that feels untouched.
Mid to low tide reveals hard-packed sand and playful shallows that stretch out just enough to lay into your turns. It’s beginner-friendly on mellow days, with room to breathe and a horizon that makes you forget time.
Feeling curious? Just south of town lies a quiet estuary mouth — glassy, shallow, and slick when the tide plays nice. There’s access near the salmon farm, but launching there puts you in a wind shadow, so it’s not ideal. Better to rig in town and kite down — it’s only about 1 km, or just a few minutes as the crow flies!
