Victoria – Point Danger – Torquay
Welcome to Point Danger — not just a name, but a bit of a warning label. Sitting proud between Torquay’s front and back beaches, this exposed headland pulls in swell, breeze, and attention from riders looking for something a little more serious.
This one’s not for beginners. When the S to SE winds fill in, Point Danger can deliver long, wrapping waves over reef and rock — perfect for wave kiting and windsurfing if you know what you’re doing. The wind tends to funnel through clean, but the launch is tight and the setup unforgiving.
Mid tide is your window. At low tide the reef’s right there under your fins, and at high it can become a bit sketchy trying to find space to launch. Make sure you’ve got your tide timing dialled, and maybe skip this one if it’s your first time out.
There’s parking nearby and a grass rigging area, but it’s a rocky entry and definitely not a sandy holiday beach. It’s all about the session here — raw, exposed, and rewarding if you’re prepped for it.
Local tip? If it’s big, crowded, or just not feeling right — head to 13th Beach or even Possos. But if it’s lining up here, and you’ve got the stones, Point Danger pays off.
