South Australia – Venus Bay
Welcome to Venus Bay — raw, remote, and holding more secrets than it lets on. The main bay? Sheltered and shallow, with the surrounding hills chopping up the breeze. In SE to SW winds, expect gust swings of up to 5 knots — one moment it’s mellow, the next it’s lit.
The real gem lies across the water — Germein Island. A butter-flat sand spit kissed by clean offshore breeze in SE to ESE. Crystal shallows, open space, and not a soul in sight. Perfect for confident kiters and wing drafters chasing the dream.
Getting there? Bring a boat, call in a favour from a local fisho, or paddle over on a SUP if you’re feeling bold and the tides are kind. Some wing or kite across from the north shore — doable, but a mission.
S to SSW can work out near the spit, but it’s remote and exposed. No easy rescue. NE might tickle the northern arm, but it’s usually light and patchy — rarely worth the setup.
