Victoria – Moggs Creek

Welcome to Moggs Creek — a tucked-away stretch on the Great Ocean Road, between the better-known Fairhaven and Eastern View. Quiet, raw, and scenic, this one isn’t a crowd-puller, but it has some juice for the right rider.

The beach faces south-southwest, open to swell and wind. Best in SE to S winds, but it’s fully exposed, so the conditions can swing quickly from fun to full-on. The surf here isn’t huge but it’s consistent — with a wide surf zone and plenty of rips. That means less whitewash, more usable faces, but you need to know your positioning and be ready to work.

Intermediate only. The beach has rips every few hundred metres, and they move around with the sandbars. Launching is easy — lots of space — but staying upwind in messy swell takes some edge control. Not the place to learn, but definitely one to explore if you’ve got your fundamentals down.

No facilities on-site, just a car pull-in and a short track through the bush. Peaceful. Empty. Honest.
