Mandalay Beach – WA

About 30 minutes west of Walpole, Mandalay Beach is remote, exposed, and absolutely stunning — but it’s not for the faint-hearted. When it’s on, it’s raw Southern Ocean power, and you’ll have it all to yourself.

Best on SE to SW winds, with SW being the cleanest cross-shore. Wind can funnel in solidly here, but it’s not a guaranteed spot — always check the forecast tight.

The launch is big and sandy, but the shorebreak can be nasty. Wide open space, but no protection from swell — so timing and confidence matter. Mid tide or above is safer, but tide’s not your biggest concern — it’s the power of the waves.

Not beginner-friendly. Heavy water, rips, and no backup if things go sideways. This is an intermediate to advanced zone, with proper Southern Ocean energy.

No facilities apart from a drop toilet. Road in is gravel but doable. You’re out there — bring everything and ride smart.
