Western Australia – Leeman

Welcome to Leeman, a hidden gem on WA’s Coral Coast where the wind is clean, the beaches are quiet, and the water stretches out in every shade of turquoise. It’s a favourite stop for road-tripping kiters chasing that sweet combo of flatwater and small wave fun.

Leeman delivers classic WA seabreezes—SW to SSW—most consistent from November through March. The wind typically fills in by early afternoon, giving you time to scope the setup and plan your session.

The main beach offers a forgiving launch with plenty of space and minimal beachgoers, making it ideal for intermediate riders and up. The outer reef keeps the swell mellow inside, creating a mix of butter-flat sections and playful chop. Perfect for twintip freestyle, foiling, or just cruising.

Tides here are moderate, with a max range around 1.1m. You’ll find the best conditions a couple of hours either side of high tide—low tide can expose some reefy bits, so keep an eye out.

The town itself is laid-back and low-key. You won’t find crowds, but you will find friendly locals, a caravan park with beach access, and a coastline that feels like it’s yours alone. If you’re heading north, don’t miss nearby Green Head—just 15 minutes up the road—for a bit more swell and a change of scenery.

Leeman’s not flashy, but it’s the kind of place you’ll remember. Quiet, consistent, and pure WA kiting.
