Western Australia – Horrocks
Welcome to Horrocks — a sleepy coastal hideaway that feels like a time warp in the best way possible. Just north of Geraldton, this tiny town serves up classic WA vibes: red dirt, reefy blues, and steady seabreezes with barely another kite in sight.
The wind rolls in from the SW to SSW between November and March, usually building strong through the afternoon. Clean and cross-onshore at the main beach, it's ideal for intermediate riders and up — beginners might find the shorebreak and reefy bits a bit spicy on low tide.
Launch from the main beach just south of the jetty where there’s room to rig and ride. There’s a reef sitting offshore that keeps the inside relatively flat and the outer section fun for down-the-line play if you’re into surfboards or foils. Low tide reveals some chunky limestone slabs, so booties aren't the worst idea.
Crowds? What crowds. On a good day, it’s just you, a handful of locals, and the seabreeze screaming through untouched coastline.
Horrocks isn’t flashy — there’s a caravan park, a jetty, and a general store with ice creams and fuel. But that’s the charm. If you’re chasing sessions that feel like your own private discovery, Horrocks will deliver.
Think of it as a reset spot on your WA run — peaceful mornings, ripping afternoons, and a chance to ride without distraction. Just remember to pack your self-sufficiency — there’s no gear shop if you forget your pump.
