Mildura Wreck – Exmouth, WA

Sitting off the northern tip of the cape, just past the lighthouse, Mildura Wreck is a lesser-known Exmouth spot that can deliver solid sessions — if you know what you're doing.

Works best on strong SE to ESE winds. The breeze wraps around the point and hits the beach cross-onshore. Mornings are typically calm; the wind tends to ramp up late morning through the afternoon.

You’ll be launching from a narrow strip of beach with reef and exposed rock nearby — not a beginner zone. The wind can be gusty closer to the point and you’re dealing with reef surge, current, and limited space.

Mid to high tide is safest for launch and ride-out. On low, the reef shelves and iron wreckage become real hazards — get caught downwind and you’re in trouble.

This is an advanced spot. No signage, no rescue, and little room for error. But if you time it right, you’ll score clean, powerful wind and a decent ride area with the shipwreck as your backdrop.

Tip: Scope it first. Know your exits. And don’t go alone — this is still reef country, and the margin for error is tight.
