Western Australia – Halls Head (Mandurah)

Welcome to Halls Head — Mandurah’s local wind machine, just far enough out of Perth to dodge the crowds but still easy enough for a day mission. When the seabreeze’s on, this place turns it up.

Afternoon SW winds start pushing in from November through to March, usually cross-onshore and steady. Great for twintip play, foiling, or just ripping up and down the coastline. The main beach has loads of room to launch, just watch for beachgoers and soft sand on big tides.

Best wind shows up from 1–2pm onwards. Mid to high tide keeps the rocks buried and gives you more forgiving landings. Watch for seaweed mats after storms — they’ll grab your fins when you least expect it.

Beginner-friendly? Yep — on the right tide. But don’t treat it like a lesson zone. It’s more like that ‘just outside Perth’ spot for riders who know how to keep their lines clean and session smart.

Plenty of spots to grab food or chill in Mandurah after. And if Halls Head isn’t delivering, swing down to Avalon or The Cut — you’ve got options.
