Victoria – Point Impossible Beach – Torquay
Welcome to Possos — raw, reefy, and unapologetically natural. A quiet little stretch just northeast of Torquay where the sand's soft, the water’s clear, and the wind — when it’s from the west to southwest — is pure gold.
This is a wave rider’s playground. The reef bends in mellow right-handers perfect for longboarders and kiters with a taste for surf-style sessions. When the W to WSW winds show up, it’s on. Anything else? You’re pushing uphill — northerlies are offshore and flaky, and anything east gets bent by the land.
Low to mid tide is the move. High tide can leave you dealing with exposed reef and limited launch room. It’s not a beginner spot — but for confident riders, it’s a secret worth keeping.
Expect a mixed crew here — surfers, foilers, a few old naturists catching rays. The vibe is chill, just don’t blast through the break zone and always keep it respectful — the beach is shared, and so’s the lineup.
Access is via a bumpy gravel road off Horseshoe Bend. No showers, no fancy extras, just a carpark, some dunes, and the open ocean waiting.
Possos isn’t for everyone — and that’s kind of the point.
