Victoria – Killarney Lagoon

Welcome to Killarney Lagoon — a quiet, reef-wrapped pocket just off the Great Ocean Road between Warrnambool and Port Fairy. Sheltered, scenic, and smooth underfoot, this place offers clean flatwater with minimal swell, making it a dream for a chilled solo session or the perfect launch point for a cheeky downwinder.

The outer reef knocks down the swell, leaving behind a shallow, glassy lagoon that lights up on a SE to S wind. Low to mid tide is best — more room to rig, less weed, and a forgiving sandy bottom. At high tide it can get a little snug, but it’s still doable with some care.

Not much power in the waves here, but that’s the point — this is your warm-up zone. Cruise the flats, dial in your gear, then peel off and head west toward Port Fairy. You’ll get scenic coast, clean wind lines, and the kind of session that feels like a secret.

Or go bigger — Killarney to Warrnambool if you’re feeling spicy and the forecast is locked.

Facilities? Bare bones. Tranquility? On tap.

Killarney’s the kind of spot that doesn’t yell — it whispers. Flatwater, freedom, and a jump-off point for the kind of ride that reminds you why you chase the wind.
