Western Australia – Nine Mile Beach – Esperance

Welcome to Nine Mile — a stretch of white sand so clean it squeaks under your feet and water so clear it feels like cheating. Just out of Esperance, this spot is raw, open, and wildly beautiful, with more than enough space for you and every kite you’ve ever owned.

South to southwesterly winds work best here, especially through summer. When it’s on, you’ve got clean wind, a bit of playful swell, and endless beach to set up and launch. Twin tippers, foilers, and wave-chasers all find something to smile about here.

You’ll want to scout the reef sections — some shallow spots on lower tides and sneaky rocks especially toward the east. But the long runs, room to boost, and ocean spray make it all worth it.

Access is easy off the Great Ocean Drive, with car parks and tracks to the beach. No toilets, no cafes — just bring your water, gear, and good attitude. If it’s blowing and you’re in town, this is the one. Rugged, powerful, and unforgettable.
