Woodman’s Point – Perth, WA

Welcome to Woodies, Perth’s go-to backyard playground when the seabreeze starts barking. Just 30 minutes from the CBD, this place draws in frothing groms, weekend warriors, and seasoned locals alike.

There are three main beaches here, but Beach 3 is the pick for freestyle — butter flat behind the sand spit and the breakwall when the tide’s right. The wind? Classic SW seabreeze, cross to cross-on, pumping most afternoons in season. It’s beginner-friendly, but don’t let that fool you — the local crew throw down hard when it’s on.

Best ridden mid to high tide for flatwater. Low tide exposes some reefy bits and can make launching a mission. Don’t forget your booties if you’re soft-footed.

If it’s crowded (and it often is), roll downwind toward the grain terminal or up to Coogee for more space. Just keep an eye on the shipping channel Due West — Ships, ferries and kiters don’t mix well.
