South Australia – Whyalla
Welcome to Whyalla — where the red dirt bleeds into the sea and the wind shows up on time. It’s a working town with a wild streak, and when the SE to SW thermals switch on (October to April), the foreshore turns into a flat-water haven.
The gradient here is mellow — stretching way out with the tide and giving you loads of shallow water to play in. Perfect for freestyle, foiling, or just cruising smooth lines without a crowd. On low tide it’s a hike, but on mid to high you’re straight into the action.
Launch is easy, conditions are consistent, and while it’s not the glossy poster-child of SA kiting, it quietly delivers session after session.
Keep an eye out for submerged hazards closer to high tide, and you’re golden.
