Victoria – Yambuk Lake & Beach

Welcome to Yambuk — a quiet little corner west of Port Fairy where the lake offers mellow vibes and the ocean rolls in just beyond the dunes. Not much is written about this place in kite circles, and that says a lot — it’s uncharted, uncrowded, and best treated with a bit of humble curiosity.

The lake is best for light wind days and foil practice. Shallow, flat, and protected, it’s ideal for getting your bearings or just cruising on the wing. It's not a big session spot — more of a play zone for beginners or lightwind specialists.

Across the dune (and yes, that giant slide is a real thing), you’ll find Yambuk Beach. A bit of a walk, but it opens up to a long, low-angled shoreline that handles the Southern Ocean with a surprising bit of calm. Expect long lines of mellow swell and a beach that’s forgiving underfoot. That said, the wind can be patchy close to shore — the dunes throw a bit of shadow, so you’ll want to head out to cleaner air if you’re chasing consistency.

There’s not much in the way of local info, no schools or regulars — so be self-reliant, scout it properly, and check your tide and wind before heading out.

A spot for the explorers. If you like figuring things out for yourself, Yambuk’s got something to give.
