Victoria – Blanket Bay

Welcome to Blanket Bay, tucked into a quiet fold of the Great Otway National Park — wild, remote, and not your average kite spot.

This place is mostly known for camping and surf, but when the conditions line up just right, it turns on a bit of rugged magic. Best on SE to ESE winds, which blow side-on across the curved bay. It’s not a high-wind hotspot, but when it’s working, you get clean ocean swell wrapping into the bay and a bit of shelter from the full brunt of the Southern Ocean.

Launch is tricky — small beach, soft sand, and a narrow setup zone, especially on higher tides. You’ll want to scout the reef fingers and time it with a mid tide for safest access. Definitely not a learner’s beach, and not worth it if the wind’s marginal.

That said, if you’re already camping here and a solid SE lines up — it’s a moody, beautiful session you’ll remember. Just don’t expect a crowd. This is a solo mission, not a scene.
