Western Australia – Cliff Head Campground
Welcome to Cliff Head — the kind of place that just appears out of nowhere, halfway between Leeman and Dongara, and makes you pull over without meaning to. Limestone cliffs, turquoise shallows, and red dirt that ends right where the ocean begins.
There’s three spots here — North, Central, and South — but honestly, just roll in and see what feels right. Central’s got the bigger space and a few handy extras like eco-loos and a kitchen shelter. South’s more tucked away, sheltered and chill. North? Bare bones and beautiful.
No bookings, no power, no water — just old-school first-in, best-dressed vibes. Fires if the season allows, dogs welcome (on lead), and the kind of peace that only happens when your phone finally gives up trying.
Offshore, scattered reef patches fringe the coast, especially near the points. At low tide, they can pop up closer than you think — so if you’re wading out or casting a line, keep your feet sharp and your eyes sharper. Tides here swing gently, usually under 1 metre, but enough to change how much ground (or reef) you’re working with. Low tide = exposed rock. High tide = smooth sailing.
It’s not a kiting hotspot, but if the wind sneaks in from the SW, you might just score a solo session in paradise. Otherwise? It’s about watching the sun melt into the sea, catching a fish off the rocks, and rinsing off with whatever’s left in your water tank.
Cliff Head’s not polished — it’s raw, real, and exactly what a coastal camp should be.
