Western Australia – Augusta
Welcome to Augusta — where the Blackwood River drifts lazily into the sea and the breeze rolls in like it’s got nowhere else to be. This place dishes up some of the most easygoing and memorable sessions you’ll find along the South coast.
There’s plenty of space along the inlet, so even on a busy day you’ll find your own little pocket to rig and ride. Butter-flat water on the estuary side makes it ideal for relaxed cruising, dialling in your foil, or sharing the stoke with mates. It's beginner-friendly but still fun enough for seasoned riders to throw down tricks or just drift aimlessly in the wind.
The seabreezes here come in clean from the SE to SW, strongest from October to March. They build steadily through the afternoon, giving you plenty of time to ease into the session — no rush, no stress, just you and the wind doing your thing.
If you're feeling adventurous, head out over the sandbar for some mellow ocean swell and a bit more punch, but it’s just as sweet staying inside the inlet watching the golden hour hit the river.
Simple, peaceful, and always worth the trip — Augusta's the kind of spot that sneaks into your memory and stays there.
