Whalebone Point – Shark Bay, WA

Welcome to the prehistoric edges of Shark Bay, where red cliffs meet glassy blues and the wind does its thing almost like it knows you’re coming. Whalebone Point is a remote slice of perfection just outside Denham — flat, open, and oh-so-inviting when the breeze lines up.

The SE to SSW seabreezes funnel in best during the arvo, cross-shore and clean. Mid to high tide gives you space to move, with wide-open shallows inside the point and small, wrapping rollers out wide for a bit of fun. Keep your eyes peeled — the water’s often clearer than glass, and you’re not the only creature playing out there.

There’s a bit of reef and limestone near the launch, so booties are a solid idea unless your feet are forged from coral. It’s not a beginner’s beach, but for those who can handle their gear, it’s hard to beat the freedom.

No crowds, no coffee vans, no signal. Bring what you need and respect the stillness — this place is wild in all the right ways.
