South Australia – Marion Bay
Welcome to the end of the road — Marion Bay, where the tarmac stops and the raw edge of the Yorke begins. This crescent-shaped beauty sits perched between rugged cliffs and national park wilderness, serving up clean wind and long walls of swell for the wind-chasers who make the pilgrimage.
SE to SW is the go here, with 3rd Ramp being the pick of the bunch. A long stretch of beach that serves up cross-shore perfection, playful peaks, and enough space to disappear into your own session. You can get in from town (1st Ramp) or hit the dirt roads and drive the beach if you’re packing 4WD.
Wave kiters, strapless junkies, and even a few surfboard-toting windsurfers show up when it’s on — but most days, it’s just you, the sea, and the kind of solitude you can only earn at the edge of things. Nature rules here, so respect the locals, human and otherwise.
