South Australia – Middleton Beach

Welcome to the rolling paddocks of the Fleurieu’s east coast — Middleton, where the wind combs your hair sideways and the waves never quite stop marching in. Long, wide, forgiving and fast — this stretch is a textbook down-the-line playground for wave kiters and surfboard slingers.

Best on a solid S to SE wind paired with a south swell — when it lines up, you’re threading crumbly lefts and rights until your legs give out. A classic launch for downwinders to Goolwa or just a long solo session painting the same line over and over again.

Winds can be gusty at times and cross-off on certain angles, but the space and consistent swell make it one of the safer and more versatile wave spots in the state. Locals are surf-heavy, so keep your distance and throw a nod — everyone gets a piece out here.
