Victoria – Cape Bridgewater
Welcome to Cape Bridgewater — a big, beautiful arc of beach west of Portland that delivers the goods when the wind and swell play nice. Backed by dunes and limestone cliffs, this spot is raw, wide open, and packed with potential.
Works best in S to SE winds, offering cross-onshore conditions and plenty of space to launch and ride. The beach has a low gradient, meaning long shallow zones and forgiving surf entries. Expect clean, powerful swell when it’s on, with solid sandbanks across the bay and named breaks like Bombers and Shelly drawing in local surfers.
For kiters, the wide beach and open terrain make launching easy — just keep clear of swimmers, especially near the surf club at the western end. Wind here builds with the afternoon and has plenty of punch. The eastern end gets less crowded and offers longer lines and a bit more exposure.
Waves, wind, and wide-open room to move — Cape Bridgewater’s a proper southern gem with something for everyone from freestylers to wave heads. Just come prepped — the elements don’t play soft down here.
