South Australia – Clinton

Welcome to Clinton — the forgotten fingertip of the Yorke Peninsula, where vast tidal flats stretch so far they blur into the sky. It’s not flashy, it’s not famous — but for the wind-hungry wanderer, Clinton is a windswept canvas waiting to be carved up.

Here, it’s all about space. Endless shallow lagoons at mid to high tide give freestylers room to breathe, while wide tidal flats on both the eastern and western sides offer up buttery conditions when the wind gets it right. Expect SE to SW winds in summer, and long walks at low tide if you get the timing wrong. The breeze rolls in steady across the gulf — not always strong, but often clean.

Terrain-wise, it’s a bit rugged. Muddy patches, rocky stretches, and a bit of that classic South Aussie smell mean it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. But bring your booties, your patience, and your appreciation for quiet sessions under big skies, and you’ll find the beauty in it.
